Take one handsome cowboy, harden him with betrayal by all the females he has known including his mother, jail time for a crime he did not commit and an enemy who hates him and bullies everyone else into hating him also. Mold and shape for many years until you have an emotional crippled man who does not want the mail order bride that is coming to marry him.
Take a stubborn and fiesty mail order bride who is looking for a place to live where fueds and killings do not happen on a daily basis. Add her desire to have her opinion listened to and respected. Blend well until you have a young woman who thinks there is no place for compromise of her wishes and desires and who is not sure she wants to marry.
Blend the 2 together along with many negative outside influences, stir well and watch the wonderful love story that develops.

Another highly rated Greenwood story.

I enjoy Greenwood, and the characters were funny but the book was a little too predictable for my taste.

From back cover:
TANZY: When she first caught sight of the man she'd come west to marry, he was galloping after a gang of bandits, peppering their worthless hides with buckshot. Russ Tibbolt was a far cry from the safe, respectable husband she's expected when she agreed to become a mail-order bride. For one thing, he'd killed a man ten years before. For another, he was much too compelling for any woman's peace of mind. With his cobalt-blue eyes looking down into hers and his powerful body doing its magic, how could she hope to win the batttle of wills between them or keep her heart intact? For beneath the onslaught of Russ' kisses she was very far from being a Reluctant Bride.
