I haven't seen the movie, but I've now read the book. And I am impressed by Doss' bravery, not only during training and combat, but also in his life afterwards when he encountered numerous medical and financial difficulties.

As a former Marine officer and Viet Nam veteran, I encountered many brave men. But when you use that word to describe Doss, it should be written in capital letters.

This is an easy read, as I finished it quickly. It also contains numerous photographs of him and the people he interacted with.
