Tom Clancy does a great job at writing a story that is well researched and teaches us a lot about the subject of the cold war and US/Russian submarine capabilities. This story builds to an edge-of-your-seat conclusion and is absolutely enthralling all the way there.

Abridged Edition
This is a story about a possible scenario for World War III between the Soviet Union and NATO. This premise makes the book a little dated now. I think it would have been better published during the "cold war" timeframe. Nonetheless, it's a work of fiction - so take it at that.
One of the most impressive things about the book is how realistically the settings are described. Superb details! The suspense is kept at a very high level throughout the book, it's non-stop action from the first tape on. Great storytelling!
If you are the type that gets excited about books with a lot of action, this is for you!
