This book is a keeper and a reread. I found the dynamics between the two protagonists captivating. The author gave me characters to care about even the secondary ones. I wanted to know what eventually happened to his friend who went to Italy, I wanted a good ending for him

I can only add to what others have written that this is one of the best regency historicals I've ever read. It has deep emotion, a large canvas and unforgettable characters. Truly memorable.

There is a linked book, Jack of Hearts, which is also good, but not quite on the level of this one.
