Helpful Score: 5
I always hate when trilogies end, and the "In the Garden" trilogy (BLUE DAHLIA, BLACK ROSE, and now RED LILY) is no exception. You get to know the characters so completely, and feel such a connection with them, that they become almost real--and you just want to keep on reading about their lives!
RED LILY is the story of Harper Ashby, oldest son of Rosalind (BLACK ROSE), and Hayley Phillips. Hayley had come to Harper House the previous year, pregnant and alone, to beseech Roz, a distant cousin through marriage, for a job. Unwed, with her baby's father out of the picture, Hayley wasn't looking for a handout, but for a chance to start over. What Roz offered her was so much more--a job, a place to stay at the renowned Harper House, and a family.
Now she has her daughter Lily, a great job, and a roof over her head, but lately she's been thinking of Harper, the man whose been her friend through it all, in a brand-new light--that of a love interest. Afraid to ruin their friendship by telling him how she feels, she keeps quiet. Harper, on the other hand, has wanted Hayley in a more than friendly fashion ever since he laid eyes upon her--pregnant and all--more than a year ago. But he's sure that she doesn't think of him in the same way, and he's leary of messing up the friendship that means to much to him.
As these two friends--both wanting to be so much more--fight their attraction to each other, the resident ghost of the house, the Harper Bride, kicks into high gear. She's always been loving and kind to the children in the house, singing them lullabies in the night, but she seems to hate men, and she's become especially violent now that Hayley is entertaining thoughts of romance.
As the whole crew--Roz and her new husband Mitch, a geneologist trying his hardest to discover who the Harper Bride really is; Stella and Logan, both employees of Roz's In the Garden shop; and Hayley and Harper, who live on Harper/Ashby land--try to figure out the Bride's agenda, their lives are in danger, and their hearts and passions intertwine with that of the ghost's.
I loved this entire trilogy, and read RED LILY in one day. It was a perfect conclusion to this powerful family saga, and I was especially happy to finally learn the answers to who the Harper Bride was, and what happened to her.
I will admit that there was one surprise twist to the storyline that I didn't see coming, and wasn't really thrilled with, but since Ms. Roberts wrote it and I didn't, I can't complain! Overall, the story was still great, and in time I learned to live with what I thought was an unnecessary plot device.
Pick up this trilogy today--you won't be disappointed!

This was my first Nora Roberts novel, a gift from my husband who knows how I like a good mystery. I was a bit disappointed because it did not suit my taste in books. There is some eroticism that I found unnecessary to the plot. It's actually a ghost/love story, and a fairly good ghost story at that.

This "IN THE GARDEN" trilogy is my favorite series from Nora Roberts Three single women, all mothers, from three generations become friends and a support system, working at a plant nursery and garden shop on the estate of the older woman. This book has romance and a Roberts' touch of the paranormal, but is predominantly about the importance of women's friendships in all our lives.
If you love gardening and enjoy reading about plant propagation and growing tips, you'll enjoy it even more, as Ms. Roberts has done much research on the greenhouse business.
In each of her books of the trilogy, the author develops the personalities of one particular woman.
BLUE DAHLIA, a widowed mother of two boisterous boys, comes to work and live at the garden center and estate.
BLACK ROSE is about the older widow with grown children, who has to deal with managing a business she started on a shoestring, and an ex-husband who turned out to be a con-man.
RED LILY, third in the series, is about a young pregnant woman who shows up at the gardening center looking for work and a safe place to raise her baby. Will the ghost let her stay there when she falls in love? Read it and see!

Best of the trilogy
As with all of Nora's books, a good read.
great ghost story
Some things never change. For me, it's that I will always love the third book in a Nora Roberts trilogy. The same is true for this one. The heroine is firey and (I have to say) just a little this side of trashy. She's the adorable friend who can fit in with any crowd but is most comfortable w/ a PBR. It's delightful then to see her fall in love with the equivolent of American aristocracy. I love her and this story. It's a love/ghost story and a whole lot of fun.
I'm not a flower/garden person so I read over these references. But even with that annoyance, I loved this series! It was great to reconnect with Stella and Roz and even though Hayley was the "star" of this installment, they both played a prominent role. The biggest star was the vengeful ghost Amelia. The team (Stella, Mitch, Roz, Logan, Hayley and Harper) spent a good portion of their time investigating Amelia and trying to find a way to get rid of her. Amelia popped up whenever Hayley got emotional about Harper. For most of the book she actually possessed Hayley - hell even when they were having sex...ewww creepy. The team used this possession to get Amelia to tell them about herself and her situation and then promptly used it against her.
I really liked Harper as he was a truly good man and terribly romantic and of course, thoroughly in love with Hayley and her daughter Lily. Hayley was a little to insecure for my tastes but knowing where she came from helped get past that. I don't remember it saying her age but she was young and she came into her own eventually. Which I guess she had to once she'd been possessed again and again by evil. A rather satisfying conclusion to the In The Garden series. Another brilliant series from Nora Roberts.

Awesome series, a must read for Robert's fans.
Very good book. I am so glad I read the series as it turned out to be one of my favorites.
Greta book that ends the triology
book 3 of the garden series. Great characters Its about 3 women who havent had the best luck with men. One woman owns a flower nursery and the other 2 come to work for her. There is a ghost that lives among them and they try to help it and set it free in each book.
Classic Nora Roberts.
This was vintage Nora Roberts - a hard-to-put-down book. It was a great conclusion to the trilogy of Blue Dahlia and Black Rose.
All three are great
Good Book
enjoyed the book, but the gardening descriptions were a bit too tough to follow. Granted, I'm from Puerto Rico so don't recognize many of the plants :-)
Best in the whole trilogy!!
Over a year ago, pregnant Hailey Phillips came to Memphis looking for a job at In the Garden Nursery, which was run by her distant cousin, Rosalind. There she got a job and a new start on life. Now she has a beautiful young daughter, a job that she loves, and several good friends, including Roz's oldest son, Harper Ashby. But things are changing. Hailey is starting to have feelings for Harper. When he returns those feelings, the resident ghost doesn't like their romance. Amelia has always haunted Harper House, singing to the children who grew up there. But she doesn't like the men who live there. In fact, she hates their lying, cheating ways. And Amelia is not happy about Hailey's relationship with Harper. She will do anything to stop it.
This is the 3rd book in the In the Garden Trilogy. Thankfully, this book didn't have the constant talk about plants and gardens. The romance was decent, but not great. Much of this book dealt with finding out information about Amelia in hopes they can send her to a better place. We learned something about her that did not endear her to me. In fact, I lost some of the sympathy that I had for her in the last two books. Overall, a decent ending to the series. My rating: 4 Stars.

Love Nora Roberts. A great series.
Excellent read. Once I picked it upo I didn't want to put it down. lol.
THIS IS the 3rd OF A 3 SERIES...COULDN'T SET IT DOWN. ROMANTIC, great story line. a must read all 3
Very good series. I really got attached to the characters. It was surprising where they found Amelia's body...usually I can figure things like that out before the author tells you. But I won't give it away. :-)
good book!
The third in this series, and it is still awesome. This book is about a relative who got pregnant, and had nowhere else to go, and Rosalyn lets her relative stay in the family home with her. Also, the relative finds love as well.
Book 3 of the "In The Garden" series plays out the story of Amelia, the ghost that haunts Harper House, as well as the blooming love between Harper and Hayley. Interesting twists to both stories.
Book three of the In the garden series.

I am Re-posting this book because it was Extremely interesting as #3 in the In The Garden Trilogy! A VERY satisfying book!! The entire trilogy was SO GOOD and I LOVED ALL OF THEM!!!
I believe this is my favorite set of books, this "Garden Trilogy" by Nora. I also luv'ed "The Circle" trilogy of hers.
Being a mother doesn't mean you aren't entitled to some romance.
This is the last book in the series although it left some things dangling. But they did eliminate the pitiable spirit. Nora Roberts books have descriptive similarities from book to book. Her writing follows a certain pattern. That's not a bad thing, but I noticed it more reading the three books one after the other. I enjoyed the books.
Great conclusion to the series. The best of all three.
This was a great culminating book in a trilogy.
wonderful series
Great Finale to the trilogy. Really enjoyable reading.
This was an excellent series. Loved it!
read a while back. just remember liking the book.
Red Lily is the third book in Nora's In the Garden trilogy. This volume tells the tale of the young unwed mother given refuge by Roz in Book 1, Blue Dahlia. Throughout the series, we've watched Roz's son's love growing for Hayley and her new baby, and their shyness with each other. Here, their beautiful love story unfolds along with the conclusion of the ghost story woven through all three volumes. Another satisfying read!
Very good series! Keeps you interested till the end!
3rd in my favorite Nora Roberts Trilogy
Great book, conclusion of the series and a must read/listen.
with the undying support of her friends, Hayly and her new daughter have laid down roots in a new town. but when one of those friendships blossoms into something more, Hayley must choose between two different kinds of love. Third in trilogy with Blue Dahlia and black Rose.
Escellent Book and a fast Read.
Escellent Book and a fast Read.
This was the best trilogy. I couldn't put the books down. I feel sad now that its over. You really fall in love with the characters and relate as if they lived next door.
This was an awesome book, and a great ending to the trilogy. All the lose ends were dealt with and left me very satisfied with the read!
I read the series and loved it! You must read from the first one to get the full benefit of the story. Very good read!
One of the best novels from Nora Roberts. Readers, who are gardeners, will enjoy this story.
I hate for this trilogy to end. What a fun book!
Book three of the trilogy...great!
The last and best of the "In the Garden" series. The characters are the best-developed, and the story culminates here.
The Final instalament of the flower series by MS Roberts. Wish there was room for a 4th book.
Enjoyable conclusion to the trilogy.
What a great ending for the trilogy. Many questions answered in this final saga, and another happy ending.
Good follow up to Blue Dahlia and Black Rose. Answers all the questions.
Enjoyable.
Third book of the In The Garden triolgy. Typical Nora Roberts...but you can't beat her for a good vacation read.
Great Book.
Hayley Phillips came to live with Roz and her family over a year ago, pregnant and desperately seeking a job. She finds one and has her baby, settling into the family. She has been with the family while the Harper Bride, the ghost that haunts the house, terrorized the people who lived there as they each fell in love.
Hayley begins to fall in love with Harper, Roz's son, and feels guilty about it. She finally makes a move, and she and Harper become an item. In the meantime, the ghost attacks Hayley stronger than before. All this does is push Harper and Hayley together, and they both begin to fantasize about a life together with just them and Hayley's daughter Lily. Harper plans to ask Hayley to marry him, but asks sooner when they discover Hayley is pregnant. Hayley agrees, but constantly fights when Harper tries to get her to move out of the house for her safety.
The Bride, whose name is Amelia, continues to bother the people in the house. Harper is concerned that the ghost wants to confront her, especially when she almost causes Hayley to commit suicide. Together they learn that she was going to kill herself and her baby the night she died. Harper almost dies trying to recover her long lost bones. He lives, however, and he and Hayley go on planning their fairytale wedding and their lives."

3rd book of the "In the Garden" series
Roberts a very entertaining writer..... this is the 3rd of three books of the "In the Garden Trilogy" about three women at the cross roads of their lives, each searching for new ways to grow. This one is about Hayley.
3rd & last book in series. Hits the climax to the very end. Hard book to put down. You have to find out what happens next!
Beautiful copy and love story!
Three women learn that the heart of their historic home holds a mystery of years gone by, as number-one bestselling author Nora Roberts brings her In the Garden trilogy to a captivating conclusion, following Blue Dahlia and Black Rose.
A Harper has always lived at Harper House, the centuries-old mansion just outside of Memphis. And for as long as anyone alive remembers, the ghostly Harper Bride has walked the halls, singing lullabies at night...
Hayley Phillips came to Memphis hoping for a new start, for herself and her unborn child. She wasn't looking for a handout from her distant cousin Roz, just a job at her thriving In the Garden nursery. What she found was a home surrounded by beauty and the best friends she's ever had-including Roz's son Harper. To Hayley's delight, her new daughter Lily has really taken to him. To Hayley's chagrin, she has begun to dream about Harper-as much more than a friend...
If Hayley gives in to her desire, she's afraid the foundation she's built with Harper will come tumbling down. Especially since she's begun to suspect that her feelings are no longer completely her own. Flashes of the past and erratic behavior make Hayley believe that the Harper Bride has found a way inside of her mind and body. It's time to put the Bride to rest once and for all, so Hayley can know her own heart again-and whether she's willing to risk it.

With the undying support of her friends, Hayley and her new daughter have laid down roots in a new town. But when one of those friendships blossoms into something more, Hayley must choose between two different kinds of love....
Hayley loves her life in Memphis: her precious baby girl, Lily, her job at the In the Garden nursery, and her close friendships with her boss, Roz, and coworker Stella. Hayley isn't about to risk all this on the chance that Roz's son, Harper (his mother's last name), might be interested in her. But when her desire for Harper finally proves to be too strong to resist, Hayley discovers not only that Harper feels the same about her but also that everyone is delighted to see them together. In fact, the only one who seems upset by her new relationship is the "Harper Bride" ghost, who, after nearly a century of unthreatening behavior, is suddenly turning violent. Now if Hayley wants her budding romance to flourish, she must find a way to root the Harper Bride out of all of their lives. The consistently excellent Roberts brings her In the Garden trilogy to a spooky, sexy conclusion with this spellbinding romance that beautifully celebrates the power of love in all its guises.

Book 3 in garden trilogy-With the support of her friends, Hayley and her new daughter have laid down roots in a new town. But when one of those friendships blossem into something more, Hayley must choose between two different kinds of love.
Book 3 of trilogy
The third in a great series about three woman and how they struggle to find love and happiness in life. Takes place in a neat old house where they all work at the adjoining greenhouse and are watched over by a mysterious ghost.
I'm a gentle reader of books as is my sister. We tend to buy books together splitting the price. This book was the best, in my opinion, of the triliogy. My copy is gently read and has minimal damage to the spine.
Forewarned: this is book 3 in a trilogy
Until recently, the Harper Bride ghost was thought to be sad but not violent. Recent events, however, have proven that this mystery woman is both psychotic and angry. The ghost's worst tendencies appear whenever romance blossoms, and as once-favored son Harper Ashby and Hayley Phillips admit their attraction to each other, things escalate even further.
For the first time, the Harper Bride shows the ability to invade a human consciousness, as she briefly possesses Hayley's body. Even though the ghost used to sing to him as a child, any positive feelings Harper may once have had toward her are driven out by his fear for Hayley and toddler Lily. The answer lies in the past and, in order to protect those in the present, the dark truth must be exposed. It will take the courage and deductive skills of the entire "In the Garden" gang if they are to succeed.

The Barnes & Noble Review
Nora Roberts brings her bestselling In the Garden trilogy to a most satisfying conclusion with Red Lily, which tells the story of Hayley Phillips and solves the mystery of the Harper House ghost.
Hayley, first encountered in Blue Dahlia, lurched into adult life unexpectedly when she left home six months pregnant. She found the fresh start she was looking for, thanks to her distant cousin Roz, who gave her a home, a job in the nursery business, and a chance. Hayley has found many good friends too, including Roz's son, Harper, whom her young daughter, Lily, adores.
Although Harper and Hayley have spent the past two books becoming friends and eyeing each other from the side, in this book they finally act on their attraction. Their romance is sweet and intense, supported and complicated by the cast of friends and relatives introduced in the two previous books: Stella and her husband, Logan, and Roz and her new husband, Mitch. And for reasons to be revealed, the ghost of Harper House takes offense at any romance -- especially Hayley's -- in a way that could endanger her life.
As in the previous two books, Roberts excels at creating a rich cast of characters, led by three women of different ages, who start out unattached and ultimately find the friendship and love they deserve. Ginger Curwen
