I spent the entire time I was reading this book wanting to slap everyone in it. The love interest refuses to tell anyone what is going on, the humans all let him get away with it, and the cat-thing sidekick is just annoying. It ended up feeling like the main characters were paying more attention to their unresolved sexual tension than the imminent catastrophe, the nature of which was not explained until halfway through the final encounter with the bad guys. I probably would not have finished this book if I hadn't been stuck waiting for car repairs with nothing else to read.
