I love anything Stegner wrote - it is sensitive and so well-crafted, and this novel is no exception. Not only did he have an eagle-eye on his characters' minute nuances, he also knew how to present them in fiction.
Wallace Stegner is a wonderful writer. This is one of his lesser known works.
