The experience of Bill Fletcher was remarkable! It was a miracle the man lived through his experiences. He encountered such horrific circumstances as an infantry man and a calvary man. He spoke of his travels, the destruction and devastation of property, the danger of being on the front line, the lack of food, warmth and shelter. He mentioned the kindness of civilians willing to help him on his way back to his unit and the kindness of the Nuns who helped him recover from his wounds. There is everything to be had in this little book from history, action and adventure to a wonderful survival acount!

Interesting book written in a stream of consciousness style over a hundred years before such became popular.

I was more impressed with his achievements after the War.
