This is a great DK book that magnifies spiders, bugs, and insects of many kinds and tells us many interesting, exciting facts about these wonderful creatures.Several types of beetles are shown that look like larger animals when blown up.For example, The rhinoceros beetle looks like a rhinoceros. Then there is a minotaur beetle, the longhorn beetle. What appears to be horns on these beetles are sensitive antennae used to pick up the scent of other beetles like them. An identification code for that type of beetle. I find it fascinating that such "small" creatures are so detailed. Did you know that for the size body they have that these siders, bugs and insects have much detail in their bodies that we are unaware of. Many of these creatures such as lightning bugs and red beetles are fascinating to watch. In the Eastern US lightning bugs light up at night illuminating the darkness.Red beetles are beautiful creatures when observed up close.
