Excellent twists and turns, wonderful storytelling! JD Robb/Nora Roberts nows how to tell a story. I'm a romance/mystery/sci fi reader and she intertwines all three genres into a tale that keeps you thoroughly engaged. Thanks JD Robb/Nora Roberts for such pleasurable hours of entertainment!

Very good look into VR future. I really enjoy these "In Death" books by J. D. Robb aka Nora Roberts. This one kept me wrapped up in the story line. I give this one a A+

This fourth installment starts with Roark and Eve on the last part of their honeymoon, checking out one of his numerous off world resorts. Death interrupts the couple in the form of a young employee of Roark's apparent suicide. Flash forward to Eve's first day back at Cop central and she encounters an obnoxious lawyer while testifying in court and later that evening seeing the same lawyer in a tub filled with his own blood, another apparent suicide. Eve, being Eve, questions both cases and an additional third case with the same m/o. She again solves the case and again the twists and turns keep you guessing to the very End. I am enjoying this series more and more. It is kind of like a potato chip, you can't eat just one. On to book five.
This is the 4th book in the series of Eve Dallas, police lieutenant in the year 2056. Mood-altering drugs are legal, prostitution is licensed, virtual-reality games have replaced TV sets for entertainment. This time around, Eve has married her soul mate, Roarke, and is caught up in the puzzling suicide of a technician who's been working on Roarke's unfinished space resort. The young tech, Eve learns, had cheerfully hanged himself after a VR trip. Back on Earth, autopsies from two similar suicides reveal a pin-sized burn on the brains of the victims. All clues point to a deadly subliminal message in a VR toy?one that Roarke produces. Great book and can't wait for #5.
This series is a romance mystery set in 2058. Lt. Eve Dallas is a hardworking likeable character and her husband is "dreamy". I love this series and the characters - even the bad guys.
great book i believe it is the 4th book in the in death series by j.d. robb
Can't wait for each new one in this series!
They died with smiles on their faces. Three apparent suicides, strangers with nothing in common aand no obvious reason for suicide. Lt Eve Dallas is suspicious and is proven right with autopsy results that show a burn in the brain. Geneteic or high-tech? The investigation turns to virtual reality. Can games used to create joy be used for destruction?
Huge Eve Dallas fan!

Book #4 in her In Death series.
4th in the Eve Dallas Series. Enjoy!
Great Book... mystery and a little love on the side.
This is the 4th book in the futuristic detective series written by J. D. Robb / Nora Roberts.
I love all the Eve Dallas books, and this one was no exception. Good book.
An investigation of three apparent suicides draws Eve into the world of virtual reality -- where the mind can become the weapon of its own destruction.
The fourth book in the futuristic thriller "In Death" series by Nora Roberts writing as J.D. Robb and featuring Lt. Eve Dallas as the central character.
This series just keeps getting better and better, and RAPTURE IN DEATH is no exception.
Now that Eve Dallas and Roarke are finally married, they're enjoying a much needed vacation/honeymoon. But death seems to find Eve no matter where she is, and a different planet is no exception. When one of Roarke's techs ends up dead, from a supposed suicide, Eve starts to wonder if everyting is exactly what it seems.
And when they return to New York, and more prominent people end up dead by their own hand, Dallas has a hard time convincing those around her that their suicides were actually murder.
You won't go wrong with this series, and watching the interaction between newly wed Eve and Roarke is a wonderful thing. The fact that every mystery of every book is also well-developed and all-too-believable is an added bonus!

this story is about mind control and mood altering. Mavis has a larger role than in previous book in the series.
I love powerful Lt. Eve Dallas and how the complex New York City crimes are solved. If you don't wanna bite her husband, don't read these books! Nora Robert's best writing is as JD Robb in this "In Death" series of some 30+ stories to date. I collect all of the JD Robb books, but skip the Roberts, whose stories are not as tight as those about Lt. Eve Dallas - ass kicker! If the future of New York is like this, I fear these futuristic killers who are sneaky and complex.
Love all these books.
I love this series!
In keeping with the story line with Eve discovering herself and growing, this book is a must read!
This book is part of the J.D. Robb "In Death" series with Eve Dallas. Eve investigates three apparent suicides. It's a good, fast-paced book.
#4 In Robert's "In Death" series...
SciFi meets police mystery as mind control machines make happy powerful people commit suicides. Its better than that description sounds, lol - really, a good fast read...where the Evil Mad Scientist isn't revealed until the end, and she gives you a couple of good false leads to follow to maintain the surprise.
As usual, Eve Dallas' hubby Roarke can't help but be involved, because of course, he manufactures some of the machines Lieutenant Dallas finds suspect.

Someone is killing people using Virtual Reality Games. Lt. Eve Dallas has to find who it is quickly before more die from this deadly game. And since she or her husband Roarke may be next there is no time to waste.
Love the whole "in death" series...
Excellent series of books!!
another winner from JD Robb. If you like the other 'In Death' books, you will like this one too!
The usual, mystery, action and lots o' steamy Roarke ;)

Great, Cannot wait to read the whole series! :) :)
While on her honeymoon with husband, Roarke, Lt. Eve Dallas investigates an apparent suicide. Returning to her job, she discovers a rash of suicides where the victims have no obvious reasons for killing themselves. Finding these deaths suspicious, she digs deeper. With the help of Roarke and Peabody, Eve must prove that these suicides are actually murder.
This was a good story that was hard to put down. I love the relationship between Eve and Roarke and see it becoming stronger with each book. I just wish there could have been a couple more suspects in this mystery. The villain was obvious but it was still a good read. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

Good book. Eve is a great detective and works well with her aide and Roarke. Even when Roarke isn't supposed to know about the case.
I'm hooked on the In Death series, even though I think all the profanity and sexual detail is unnecessary. I enjoy the futuristic parts of the stories.
Futuristic series that uncovers a world where technology can create beauty and youth, but passion and greed can destroy them...They died with smiles on their faces. Three apparent suicides, a brilliant engineer, and infamous lawyer, and a controverial politician. Three stranger with nothing in common---and no bovious reaons for killing themselves. Police Lieutenant Eve Dallas found the deaths suspicious. And her instincts paid off when autopisies revealed small burns on the brains of the victims.
Wonderful as the rest for sure. Couldn't put this book down.
Although it was easy to pick out the culprit early in the story, I really enjoyed this addition to the 'in death' series.
Excellent reading!!!

The fourth in J.D. Robb's addictive Eve Dallas series. This copy features different cover than the one pictured.
another great lt dallas novel.
Fantastic as always! This J. D. Robb person really knows how to write a good book! *wink*
The only difference from the picture shown is for this book is I have the original cover from the first printing. I absolutely Love these books!!
A great J.D. Robb "Death Series" book. Very interesting and fast paced.
This series just keeps getting better and better.
I am so enjoying reading this series of books. In this one Eve is confronted with finding out why people are killing themselves. Has a surprise ending that I did not expect. A for sure page turner.
Wow! great story! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.
Nora Roberts writes as J.D. Robb in series about Eve Dallas, a New York City detective, and her husband Roarke. Set in the mid 21st century
Great series!
Really great book in a fantastic series.
If you don't care for Nora Roberts BUT love Mystery/Dark Thrillers with a side of romance and a dash of comedy - then I think you'll love J.D. Robb's ... In Death series written by Nora Roberts alter ego.
I won't go into the details of the books but will tell you this: Superb character development, continuity of the story line (which means you really need to read the books in order although they can stand alone) is top notch, the relationships that are webbed and weaved together throughout each page are phenomenal and let's the reader 'really' get to know the characters.

this is a 39 book series
that i started reading thru my LIBRARY
borrowing to read on my KINDLE
they did not have books 1-5 in the series
and no USED book shops did either
BUT AWESOME
PBS had them
and i got them and found out how the series began
and how the characters related in the beginning
trying to decide
if i ""NEED"" this series in paperback form on my bookshelves....might just need the rest of the books
