This is a truly disturbing book. A very, very GOOD book, but also realistic and dark.

i picked this book up for $1 cuz it sounded interesting. id shelved it deep down until someone requested it, so i decided to read it.

and did not want to put it down! its this great book- diary enteries from 14 year old Lola in near future manhattan. basically the world has gone to shit (as is now) and is on a quick downslide.

Lola tells of what she sees as the us declines and how her life is affected. you also see how she changes in her writing and how even small things greatly impact her. its a tragic story, but really well written and very imaginative. it reminded me a bit of the pretties, uglies, specials in the way that humans are just quickly destroying everything around us.

great great book.
