Funny how one reader can have the completely opposite experience of another. This is my first Lynda Trent book and I have to say, I was just not impressed. The story line was good - I love to read about two lonely and formerly unhappily married people who find love. But the nice story line was hampered by shallow characterization, and too many subcharacters who suddenly appear in the middle of the story, including some religious zealots, all of which took away from the romance between the two main characters. I was also amazed that Ms. Trent (or her editor) would portray a two-month old baby eating solid food. I found it annoying that the heroine blows hot & cold; she couldn't make up her mind whether the hero is "cruel" (as his witchy wife said he was), or the best thing since sliced bread. I didn't care for the constant emphasis on the immediate physical attraction between the two main characters. I can't say they rushed into their relationship, but when "it" finally happened, the characters' flip-flop emotions and under-developed love story didn't make me feel any connection to these people. Poor writing spoiled a good story.
