I've read over a dozen of Crosby's books. I love her Desires. The jury is still out on her Special Editions but this book, by far, is the most monotonous, circuitous one of hers. Very disappointing. She says upfront she did research into the cowboy way of life since this was her first cowboy hero. He did not ring true. So much of the book was dull and telling and not at all like her usual snappy dialgue.

I wonder if it's bc this was a "series" book and she was given the characters and plot??? The movie star heroine seemed realistic enough, but the book broke down after that.

Skip this one & read her Desires, they are great!
