Through a series of person journeys, each interwoven with scenes from Haiti's extraordinary past, the author brings to life this turbulent and fascinating country.

A very interesting look at a country that's struggled for so long. Please note that mine is an older version published in 1989 , not the reprint- but it is still in excellent condition.

Interesting background on one of the most troubled and misunderstood countries in the western hemisphere. It is a little "wordy" at times but Wilentz's perspective overcomes that drawback.
