1) I am actually surprised a Grisham book is going to make my Top 5 list of 2007. Oh, but it is. This was a fantastic book. The characters and plot were so well developed, it was really tough putting this book down. The story is typical Grisham. A young lawyer graduates from Memphis State. He has no money and no job. In order to make ends meet, he is forced to work for the sleaziest lawyer in town. But he takes with him a case against an insurance company that, if he gets lucky, could mean millions in punitive damages. His luck is not in his favor when the sleazy lawyer disappears and leaves Rudy and a paralegal named Deck, to start up an office of their own and take the case against one of the toughest law firms in Memphis. Grisham does the layman justice by explaining law in a way anyone can understand. I always take something away from a Grisham book. The action does not stop until the end of this one. And I have to say I was surprised but definitely satisfied with the ending. A must read!

It is Grisham - what else can ya say? At least this one has an ending and not just a mish-mash of new characters used to disguise the fact that he cannot close. One believable character. He should be tied to a chair and caused to repeat completethesory, completethestory, completethestory 1004 times.

This is, in my opinion, one of John Grisham's best! Yet another book that you want to read instead of watching the movie!

Vintage John Grisham. He's a young lawyer who does yard work in exchange for rent. Then one little case begins to explode.... Grisham never fails to satisfy.

Everyone knows that screenplays are not always true to the book or clumsily truncated versions, but I enjoyed the movie by this name. However, the book is one of my favorite John Grisham novels. Mixing legal and insurance (as they do in the real world) and revealing the relationship between the two and the real lives that get mangled in the process strikes an authentic chord with anyone who's had to deal with such issues, and makes the rest of us shudder because but for the grace of God . . . And Mr. Grisham makes the characters easy to identify with or villify. Of, course we are (as we should be) left none the worse for the read and always with hope.

How wonderful it is to read a book that has everything. This book has emotion, action and drama. There were parts of the book that were hilarious. It is well written and has those off the wall details that make the book very entertaining. The characters feel real. So how could I stop reading it with all these qualities?

A John Grisham classic. Better than the movie. A great read for a long trip on the airplane or train because it keeps you turning the pages. Grisham's details and rich characters are compelling. I definitely recommend this book to Grisham fans or newbies alike!

A young lawyer who does yard work in exchange for rent. He has only one job: an insurance dispute that leaves a family devastated and opens the door for a lawsuit.
As always, John Grisham weaves a story more and more tightly until you are entangled in the story and have to see how it ends.

This has four cassettes and is read by Michael Beck. This is a very good story. To complete law school he has to provide free legal advice to senior citizens. His first client was mistreated by a large insurance company.
