The tenuous nascent relationships of Kyle, Nelson, and Jason continue through their senior year but there are important decsions to be made which will either make or break them. In the meantime the boys all suffer the slings and arrows of a typical urban high school scene with all the cruelty and confusion that entails while they develop their survival and defense skills. They often find themselves at risk in troublesome ways, especially in their less than ideal home lives and frequent peer hostility.
Their stories are examples of courage and determination with the meaningful support of those who sometimes disappoint but never abandon the struggle to heal the hurts and strengthen the spirit.
