If you like well written novels, this is for you: story of an Englishman in the Ottoman world of early 1900's. As remote and dull as that setting sounds, the writer has wonderful way of writing so that it all seems very familiar. If you like novels that are more into three-dimensional characters and the nuances & paradoxes of the human spirit, you'll like this.
'It is May 1908 and the Ottoman world is crumbling. Robert Markham, an Englishman in Constantinople, is newly posted to the British legation with his imperious wife and overly curious son. Markham's hidden life is about to make itself known.....' It takes us to a place and time remote from our everyday lives...'
