This is the first book in a duology, and honestly it reads like the publisher split the novel. Anyway, its not bad. Not great either, but not bad. Goodfellow links cancer to Lovecraftion horrors in a big way. This is interesting, but seems to remove a bit of the 'magic.'
In short, the concept is interesting, the execution is OK thanks to the author's descriptive talents, but I found the characters at best OK.
