I loved this book. The characters were opposite species and nations and it was an arranged marriage. World was only built as far as you know who are involved and freindly and who borders who. The characters were the driving force with this book. They start out being open and truthful, and from there they grow as a couple. Loved the characters staying true to themselves and open to new experience. No shrinking violet, or not stating what they feel. Loved it from the first paragraph thru to the end. The problem will be finding the next book. Great writer.
What I most enjoyed about this book was the way Ildiko and Brishen approach their marriage. They have a pragmatic outlook which is a refreshing take on the well worn trope of arranged marriage in romance. They decide that they are in this together so rather then make each other miserable they become a team against the very real threats from Brishen's family and outside fractions who are against the marriage. And of course along the way they find friendship which sets up a solid foundation for love.
It is a well written, intriguing, and lovely read and I highly recommend it
