I love all the Elm Creek Quilts books. I've been trying to read them in order to follow the story line. However, I was disappointed in this one. It's more like a books of recipes with a little dialogue thrown in. It really doesn't seem to fit the series. Only two characters are in it.
That said, if you're like me... you like to read EVERY book in a series you love. Go ahead and read just for the sake of completion. Just pick it up at the library or something. :)

Order this book only if you are interested in the recipes talked about in the previous ECQ books. There is very little in the way of any story here.

Each chapter begins with a brief conversation between Anna, the new EC chef, and Sylvia as they clean out the kitchen in preparation for the renovation. Then there are several recipes relating to the conversation. It usually revolves around something they dug out of the back of a long-neglected cabinet. The book stops when she runs out of recipes without a renovation even having been started. I'll give 5 stars for the recipes, but only 1 star for the story. She either should have just published a recipe book or written an actual story.

I had hoped this book would continue the ECQ stories. It does not. The few discussions in the chapters just rehash stories that have already been told in prior books. Each chapter starts with a VERY short continuation of the ECQ story (pretty repetitive of previous books)and then the rest of the chapter - page after page - is all cooking recipes. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!! Especially since the description of the book leads you to think it will continue the ECQ series stories. If I had thumbed thru this in person instead of getting it on line it would still be in the store.

Recipes created by Sally Sampson, cookbook author, are intersperced with a few words between recipe catagories.

I enjoyed this. Was a super fast read as half the book is recipes but interesting story anyway. Nice to visit with old friends.

Another heartwarming installment to the Elm Creek Quilt series. Very quick read - with interesting recipes. Quick look into a new relationship growing at the Elm Creek estate. Makes you yearn for a simpler, happier time!

Chiaverini's books are always enjoyable to read. Once you finish you can't wait for the next one.
