Beaufils is raised in an isolated forest by his mother. He has no idea who his father might be. He only knows that he is a knight of Athur's round table. When his mother dies he leaves to seek his father. A strange man named Scotus appears to him and they converse. He knows his father but leaves that discovery to Beaufils.
The young man meets several knights including Gallahad, Guwain, Mordred, Sir. Bors and Sir Lionel and the lovely Lady Ellyn during his travels. Some knights are silly, some are cruel and some are religious but others exist only to serve and help others. Is one of them his father? Time will provide the answer. During his adventures he learns that his mother was named Yvette and that his given name is Guinglain. This is a charming read for young YA readers.
