This book has a great deal of historical informtion (just how did Victoria come to be queen?) and enough science to explain the genetic and medical implications of hemophilia (haemophilia, if you're a Brit). I expected a lot of dry material but was very surprised by the compelling stories of European nobility in the 18th, 19th and early 20th century. They were not the most sympathetic bunch but you can't ignore the impact that Victoria's brood had on world history.

I couldn't put it down and read it straight through in one day. Bravo!
