Akasha, the Queen herself, who has risen from a six-thousand year sleep to let loose the powers of the night, dazzles in this mesmeric storytelling. Akasha has a devious plan to "save" mankind and destroy Lestat--in this extraordinarily sensual novel of the complex, erotic, electrifying world of the undead.

"In this most elaborate and enthralling of Anne Rice's vampire novels, she transports us more deeply than ever before into the large and complex world of good and evil she has so masterfully created."

Wow, just when you think you got a handle on all of this, out comes the history of family that makes you glad they are not related to you! LOL Love her writing and this series is one not to be missed if you like an excellent read rich with details and deeply involved stories on the characters. They will stay with you for a long long time.

This is my absolute favorite of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, and the wear and tear on my copy is true testament to that. Her history of how the vampires came to be and how all the various vampires are intertwined makes for a great read. The different pov's through out the book could have made reading it somewhat difficult, but for me it simply added much more depth to the whole story.

Man the movie did not do this book justice. You have to read it to find out all of the great things that went on that the movie doesn't tell you. Seriously so much more to find out!

If you can manage to get through the first part of this book, it's a very good read, just slower than the rest of the Vampire Chronicles. If you've seen the movie but haven't read the book, you really should read the book, so much was changed/left out of the movie.

I had a hard time getting into this book in the begining. Still not sure what I thought about it.

Book III of the Vampire Chronicles. Movie created based on book. Enjoyed book more than the movie. 1 reader only, book in excellent condition. Slightly larger than the average paperpack, in the new softcover format.

A feat of mesmeric storytelling, a chilling entertainment, THE QUEEN OF THE DAMNED unleases Akasha, the Queen herself, who has risen from a six-thousand-year sleep to let loose the powers of the night. Akasha has a marvelously devious plan to "save" mankind and destroy Lestat--in this extraordinarily sensual novel of the complex, erotic, electrifying world of the undead.

As usual, the book contained extra characters & info the movie did not...it was a bit dry in spots, but overall a good read.

Not a bad story, but I find Rice's writing to be a bit over the top.
