In this sequel to Mindstar Rising, several years have passed and Greg Mandel has retired from the tekmerc game, until Julia Evans asks him to use his ESP to look into a murder as a personal favor. A classic who-dunnit murder mystery, but set a future England after the worst of global warming. An interesting picture of a possible future, written 16 years ago, before most of us were thinking about climate change.
