I got a copy of this book to review through NetGalley(dot)com. I have read a lot of the Pusheen web comics and enjoyed them, so I was excited to give this book a read. It is an okay book, that is more cutesy than funny.
Pusheen reminds of Hello Kitty with a more typical cattitude. This book is broken into different sections: an intro to Pusheen, what you need to know about cats, how to live, intro to Stormy (Pusheens younger sibling), and A Year in the Life of Pusheen.
This would make a cute little coffee table book...especially for someone who's a fan of the Pusheen blog/webcomic.
There is not a ton of content here. I got this for review and breezed through it in maybe 20 minutes. Some of the cartoons will be funny to cat lovers. Some of it is just kind of cutesy.
An effort is made to stick with theme of each section of the book. It was okay. I appreciate that they tried to give this book a purpose and organization for the cartoons. However, I think it would have been a better book if they would have just had the cartoons in there and not force them to a chapter theme.
I really feel like this could have been a bit more clever and funny. I have seen other Pusheen comics that really make me laugh and there wasnt a ton of those in this book.
Overall this was a cute book but nothing fantastic. Its one of those books you can lay on the coffee table and someone can pick it up and page through the whole things in 15 minutes and go Oh, that was kind of cute and then it will be forgotten. I guess if you are a huge Pusheen fan or cat fan go to the bookstore and give it a look through.
