Enjoyable. It had a lot of sizzle, but the historicaly slant made it even more interesting.

I had to force myself to finish this book. I found myself not enjoying the characters thinking âso whatâ as their stories developed. The heroine was shallow and the hero in this book was even shallower.

Sexy. Different from historical romance, although set in the past.

The wilds of Montana set the backdrop for the wild, erotic love scenes between Lady Flora Bonham & half-Absarokee, Adam Serre, also the Compte de Chastellux. Little did they realize their affair would become a consuming love.

From the back cover...

Lacy Flora Bonham couldn't help but be tantalized by Adam Serre's potent sensuality. It made no difference that she'd only just met the exotic half-blood or that he was the scandal of polite society. Flora had never lived according to anybody's rules, and the instant she felt the heat of Adam's savage passion, the only thing that mattered was that she wanted him.

Adam Serre couldn't help but be wary. Lady Flora was quite spectacular, with her daring beauty and delicious conversation, but the noble daughter of a famed archaeologist did not fall into the category of amorous interludes. And after just extricating himself from a vicious marriage, his interest in women was purely transitory. Until the incomparable Flora set out to seduce him with a temptation that was pure sin....

This book picked up in the last half of the book; the first part was steamy but I thought Lady Flora Bonham was too far before her time. I thought she was a slut -- having sex with a man she'd just met in 1867! It just didn't fly. She also didn't let Adam Serre expect a monogamous relationship. I just couldn't accept the idea that a father (Flora's archaeologist parent) could be so indifferent to Flora's promiscuous behavior.

Adam Serre is the overachieving half-breed that I really don't like. He can play Chopin, luxuriate on the Continent, shoot, ride, lead his clan, and everything else.

Flora changed over the course of the book. Actually, when they started doing something other than having sex constantly, the story became interesting. 3.5 stars
