Plum never wrote a funnier novel than 'Psmith in the City', which is up there with the best of the Jeeves adventures. One of the great tragedies of our time was The Master's decision to abandon the Psmith character and manufacture tedious Ukridge stories instead. But let's accentuate the positive and be grateful for this early masterpiece.
