In Protected, they have selected a diversity of creatures who enjoy the protection of one or both parents at some stage of their development, sometimes before their birth or during the first few hours, days, months, or even years of their life. These range from the jewel fish, who at the first sign of danger take shelter in their mother's mouth, to the woolly opossums, who, when they get too big to fit in their mother's pouch, are carried around on her back or cling to her stomach.
