Nikole (Nik) Paterson is attending a Dodgers Baseball Game with her boyfriend Fisher and his friends when he points to the scoreboard. The board says "Nicole, will you marry me?" She turns to Fisher and finds him on his knee with a ring in his hand. Turning him down is not hard. She's only dated him a couple of months...and he didn't even spell her name right. A humiliated Fisher stomps out of the game with his friends, leaving Nik to face a disappointed crowd at the stadium. Carlos Ibarra and his sister are sitting a few rows behind Nike and saw the whole thing. Carlos feels bad for her, so they help Nik out of the stadium as quickly as possible. As Carlos and Nik get to know each other, Nik's friends tell her she should date Carlos. Nik doesn't want to get involved with another guy so soon, so she considers Carlos her "rebound" guy.
The premise of this story sounded fun, but the story actually fell flat. After several meetings and texting conversations, Nik and Carlos both claim they don't want a serious relationship, they are just looking for a good time. Of course, that does not turn out to be true.
I was totally bored with the conversations between the couple and between Nik and her friends. There was a side story about Carlos' cousin who is suffering from complications with her pregnancy. I thought it would be interesting, but it was also a failure. My rating: 2 Stars.

This is my kind of book. Smart, successful woman. A man with a lot going on in his life, including strong family values. And of course, excellent friends. Did I mention the diversity that actually resembles real life? Light, with enough meat to make this romance interesting. I'm definitely reading the next in this series. Thanks first 2read for the galley in exchange for a honest review.
