I really enjoyed this story! It's historical western, tough alpha male..the woman seemed a bit naive at times but some hot sex scenes(erotica and ellora's cave so that's pretty much a given) but I was surprised at how much story there was along with the sex. Asa is still my favorite male from the first 3 in this series.

I wasn't impressed.

Sarah McCarty's western erotic romance is enough to make a person turn in their paranormal requirements. The Hell's Eight series is about all alpha males and women with backbone. Even if you've given up on 'historicals', this is no bodice ripper, you'll probably enjoy it. (Particularly if you find yourself spending too much money at Ellora's Cave!)

Unforgettable Read ! !

This story is a lot better than the next one in the series "Promises Keep". There is an actual storyline, the characters are more fully developed and the dialog is fine. I wonder why the author took such a down hill slide on the next one.

Steamy Elloras Cave Western by McCarty
Western/Historical Erotic romance from Ellora's Cave. Elizabeth Coyote's father has died, and she needs to find a husband, because women aren't allowed to own property. Elizabeth is trying to save her family's ranch. She marries Asa McIntyre, a known gunslinger. Very sweet romance.
Wow ... Excellent! Considering this is an Ellora's Cave publication, this is a beautifully written romance. I really cannot say enough about what a pleasant surprise this book was. I really have never read anything from Ellora's Cave that I would describe as well written. This book has all the erotic elements with an actual story and characters and good writing.
Packaged in the form of a western historical, you have all the ingredients of a historical romance: 1860's Wyoming, outsider alpha male hero, the local girl smart yet dainty heroine with a lot of inner strength, and some kind of basic mystery to hold it all together. If it wasn't for the rather graphic sex scenes and dirty talk, this could be from any of the usual romance publishers. As an avid romance and erotica reader, the comment describing this book as having "tepid" erotic scenes must be reading flat out porn. This book was very graphic compared to any of the fare from standard publishers (Avon, Berkeley, Dell) and frankly at moments the sex scenes felt almost out of place with the rest of the story. However they were certainly scintillating and sexy on top of the terrific romance.
Typically reading Regency and English historicals I can't speak to the accuracy of this book but for this reader, it was excellent and satisfied me as much as some of my very favorite romance authors. LOVED IT! !

Possibly the worst written book I have ever read. No insight to character motivation, tepid "erotic" scenes, just awful.
loved it! can't wait to read the 2nd book
