Very good biography of a prolific and very popular author who hated publicity and was intensely private. She never sat for interviews, made no public appearances, and disdained fan letters. Based on private papers, correspondence, family archives and interviews with close family and friends after her death, this is a well-written account of an amazing woman. A 2011 reprint originally published in 1984, the book is illustrated with photos and drawings.
