A very good book. A bit tough to read at the beginning due to the irish/scottich accents that get spelled phonetically, but that goes away in the first 100 pages or so. A good story that had me not wanting to put the book down. It was my first Archer book, but won't be the last.
The book was excellent. Mr. Archer is a gifted author
The first book received since joining and a delightful return to an author I'd lost track of over the years. It did not disappoint and was as involved a plot as former Archer books. You are never sure which way the plot will turn in the next chapter. What a pleasure!
Excellent read, slow at times but very hard to put down. Highly recomended!
I recently became acquainted with this author. Now I've read several of his books and every book has been hard to put down. I include this one in that category and I want to read all of his books. They're written with intelligence and a good understanding of the human mind and heart, but conversely with a clarity of depth into the criminal mind as well. The good characters in this story are well worth admiring and rooting for and the bad guys are really despicable. There are quite a few twists and turns and surprises in this story, so I never knew what was coming next. So all in all, a very good read.
This is the first book I've read by Jeffrey Archer and I did enjoy it very much. What I enjoyed the most were all the twists and turns. It had some great ones! The story kept you reading to find out what in the heck was going to happen next! It's set in England and a majority of the story is set in and about the English court system which was interesting to me.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book from the first page to the last. Danny, a poor auto mechanic proposes to his best friend's sister and they head to the bar to celebrate. Four drunken upper class friends pick a fight with them, killing the best friend and framing the murder on Danny. Danny goes to prison where he learns to read, write, and become a gentleman from his cellmate Sir Nicholas. The story ends well as you expect, but there are several twists and turns that keep it interesting and suspenseful. This was the first Jeffrey Archer book I have read, but I plan on reading a lot more in hopes the others will be as good as this one!

This is one of Jeffrey Archer's best novels - his homage to 'The Count of Monte Cristo'. If you listen to the audiobook, he discusses the parallels and it made me appreciate the book even more.

I loved this book. It was an incredibly fast read with twists and turns throughout. Jeffrey Archer has become one of my favorite authors and I am speeding through everything he has written. I have only found one of his books thus far to be unexciting and a bit of a drag.
Even though the premise of this book is a bit unbelievable. It kept my interest to the end.It's a modern retelling of the Count of Monte Cristo- which I have sadly never read. This is my first book by Jeffrey Archer and wont be my last.Lots of action and twists.
