Diana's insecurity stemmed from the death of the Spencer's third child, a boy. When she was born, the couple was hoping for a son to replace the one who died soon after birth. Later, the couple did have a son, Charles. However, at six years of age, Diana's parents separated. By the time of the divorce, John Spencer got the children because Frances (their mother) married her lover one month after the divorce was finalized. The tumult affected the children, but Diana went to boarding school at nine. Eventually, John Spencer remarried; the new wife was not popular with the children.

The rumor that Harry was James Hewitt's son was squashed by the timeline given in this book. Otherwise, there wasn't much info that wasn't already widely known. I would have thought that Charles' poor treatment of Diana and long-term affair with Camilla would have prevented him from rising to the position of king.

Dodi Fayed's father's claims were not mentioned in this story. This retelling seemed to be average.
