Very enjoyable and immediately captivating. You feel entangled in the lives of his characters- as always! When I finished the book I felt lonely, as if I had said goodbye to a friend.

Ideal for car trips as the story progresses through a number of tales as history rolls along: love story, battles and politics. An interesting tale to listen to and learn about major events in Irish history up to the invasion of Henry VIII, mostly interpreting the great Irish historical legend. Really long for an abridgement: 8 cds, 9 hours!

I enjoyed this book so much! I loved to listen to the different ways of life of the Irish people throughout the centuries. I learned much about where differnt words come from and such. It had a great story but was also very historical. I liked both aspects of it.

The story of the various princes who have ruled in Ireland since pre-Christian times. The focus is on rulers near and around Dublin.

It opens with the reign of the Tara kings and the tragic love story of Conall and Deidre and takes us all the way through to the British invasion and rule.

This is my first time listening to a book on CD and I listened to it on my way home for the holidays. It was a bit of a challenge to stay focused on the story and not letting my wander as I drove.

I enjoyed the story and John Keating has a wonderful voice for listening to the story.
