I really enjoyed the first story in this book, Wicked Lord, very much. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and felt it was very much up to the standard that I have come to expect from Crystal Jordan. I could easily sympathize with the stands of both characters and the struggle Bren goes through before she finally sides with the Kith in the issues between their people. I had a little bit harder time with the second story, Carnal Empress. I just felt that Kyber was a bit of a jerk in the way he responded to and treated Jana after his rescue. Overall it was an enjoyable read, and if I decide to keep the book (which I haven't decided on one way or the other yet), it will be solely based on Wicked Lord and not Carnal Empress, as I really felt like Kyber didn't do enough to make up for his shabby treatment of Jana earlier in the story.
