I was disappointed in this book because I was expecting a Christian perspective, perhaps tracing the idea of pride from the naming of it as a deadly sin and dealing with pride in oneself.

The author writes about the black (African American) experience with pride.

I only skimmed it because it is not what I had in mind. However, given the recent presidential election and outcome, this book might be very relevant today and interesting to someone who wants to find out more about the African American experience and how pride works in that community.
