I enjoyed this old west Indian story. Nothing like being captured by Indians to bring out the strength in a woman, unless its being returned in less than pristine condition and having to face the whites you are no longer a part of.
This is a story of a woman in the old west during the Indian uprisings; of how she survived being captured by the Indians as well as surviving her return to so called civilization. It feels as though you are there in the old west, I really enjoy how Janet Dailey researches her story line. It brings a touch of reality to her caricatures.
Amid the stark surroundings of an Army post in the heart of Indian country, beautiful, cultured Hannah Wade has managed to create a private haven for herself and her handsome, dashing husband, Major Stephen Wade. And Stephen is proud not only of the home she had made for them, but of the fact that the men in his command are smitten by his wifes's loveliness. Then suddenly, Hannah's comfortable sheltered existence is shattered during an innocent afernoon ride when, her soldier escorts slain, she is taken captive by renegade Apaches under the leadership of the infamous Lutero.
