fun trip down memory lane if you're an 80's girl. not as edgy or raw in its humor as "Bitter" or "Bright Lights", as this memoir centers around her younger days. I just love Jen's self-depracating wit.

I waited in FIFO for this book so long I finally decided to order it through Amazon (justification=needed the extra purchase for free shipping) and am soooo glad I didn't wait until my turn finally came up in FIFO. This book made me LOL....ONCE!!!!!! And it was in the Epilogue. I have laughed out loud, shake the bed wake the hubby up, so much with Jen's other books I truly thought this would be just as entertaining. NOT!!! Truly just wanted to finish it so I could send it out to all those poor people waiting in FIFO...so they don't end up wasting their money on it like I did. I certainly hope her next one is better.

When I read a Jen Lancaster book, I have come to expect to be entertained. This author has a unique voice in her writing that draws the reader into her world. I don't feel like I am reading a book but instead am sitting in a Starbucks with Jen Lancaster, laughing and giggling over foo-foo coffee drinks.

In PRETTY IN PLAID, we are given a front seat view into how fashion shaped Jen throughout her life from Girl Scout to college coed to career woman.

From Jordache jeans to designer Prada handbags, this book is an adventure in fashion that will appeal to the girly girl in all of us.

This was my first Jen Lancaster book so I was not disappointed with comparisons of earlier work. You don't have to be the same age to have your own wardrobe parallels. Her memory lane of fashion is a hilarious ride from childhood, through teenage angst, to welcome-to-the-real-world-rent-paying-working woman. You don't have to be an ex-girl scout or sorority sister to enjoy this. If you've ever been imprisoned in the back seat of your parent's car, formal dress shopping with your Mom, or felt stupid at your first job you'll laugh as much as I did. Yo, Jen! Call me. We could SO be friends!

Everything she writes is brilliant. If you have never read a Lancaster book, you are missing out!
