I enjoyed this book because I like to hear and learn about days of long ago. These were mountain men tired of civilization and decided to head out on their own in the mountains living off the land and nature. It was an adventure to read it like you are right there with them experiencing the nature and the excitement of the trails they followed with the cowboys and the Indians fighting to defend themselves and to stay alive from day to day. Preacher was a very smart mountain men that left a legend behind him. This is not just a western for men but a good book for women too as it contains stories of love, life and mystery of the man called preacher.

William Johnstone and his series of stories about Preacher, Smoke and Matt Jensen are very enjoyable to read. His writting reminds me of Louis L'Amour. The stories are fast paced, full of action, and hard to put down. If you enjoy the stories set in the old west, and heros like Hopalong Cassidy you eill like all of William Johnstone's novels. If you want your heroes more down to earth then these may turn you off.
