Michael Hrubek is not quite as insane as all the doctors seem to think. He is on a mission, and it is scary. He escapes from a mental hospital to wreak revenge on those he believes responsible for all his problems. This is a nail-biter, complete with floods, storms, and people with various reasons to capture him.

MIchael Hrubeck has escaped from a mental hospital for the criminally insane. He's on a mission to find Liz Atcheson, the woman who identified him as a vicious murderer. No one will stop him. Not his psychiatrist, not the porfessional tracker, not Liz' husband. Only Liz can save herself from the unspeakable secret of her past. A past Michael Hrubeck knows all too well.

An outstanding thriller by Jeffrey Deaver. First published in paperback in 1996, it's been reprinted at least six times due to it's popular acclaim. If you haven't read it yet, now's the time. [A]

Michael Hrubek is on a mission. The ones in the institution were out to get him. Like everybody else. But now he's free, and he'll show them all -- especially her. He'll find the one who put him away. He'll make her pay. She called him a killer. He'll show her what killing's all about...

He's escaped. The man who murdered two of Lis Atcheson's students. Who haunted every disoriented day and hellish night following her testimony. Now he's after Lis. And only she can put an end to the nightmare he began...

"Deavers writes... thrillers that would challenge even the most enthusiastic roller coaster ride"Cleveland Plain Dealer

This is an earlier book of Deaver's, originally published under a pseudonym. I was surprised that he wrote other books under a different name and was not sure this one would live up to his usual standard. The plot is less complicated and the characters less developed than those novels written under his real name; in fact, I have to admit that I suspected the outcome well before I was finished with the book. However, I still enjoyed the book and would recommend it to Jeffery Deaver fans.
