I am not a frequent nonfiction reader but I picked this up because of personal and popular renewed interest in National Parks. I found the questions raised about how to balance current enjoyment of parks (accessibility, bathrooms, paved roads, parking) with the preservation of the parks for future generations really interesting. I got bogged down in the details of who exlpored which part of Yellowstone or Yosemite when and which Congressmen were for or againts the proposals, but overall I'm glad I read it. Olmsted's scope of work is amazing.
