Eckhart Tolle is emerging as one of today's most inspiring teachers. In The Power of Now, already a word-of-mouth bestseller in Canada, the author describes his transition from despair to self-realization soon after his 29th birthday. Tolle took another ten years to understand this transformation, during which time he evolved a philosophy...  more »

I'd be happy to write a review for this book.....just as soon as I figure out what it said! I'm a child of the 60's/70's and am all about self enlightenment, but I just couldn't keep pace with what Tolle was trotting out. Sorry folks, my ego is well in check and admits defeat. I just don't get it.

I liked A New Earth better than this one because of the way it is written. The message is similar but A New Earth is more pleasing and readable IMHO. This one is written in a sort of "question and answer" format that I found felt very contrived and silly.

I tried to get into this book. I've read a lot of books on spirituality but Eckhart Tolle's style of writing is horrible. It's off-kilter. I don't know how to explain it. He writes just like he talks ... he drones on and on. When you get halfway through a page, you try to figure out what the hell he just wrote about! So you end up going back to the beginning and the cycle starts over. The title reminds me of the Sanford Meisner acting method or "in the moment." Being in the present, always aware of what is going on around you, and being open to the possibilities but, alas, it wasn't at all like that. The only reason I think Tolle is even popular is because of Oprah. I also have an issue with "A New Earth," which will, more than likely, end up on PBS in a few weeks.

Informative! A Glimpse of truthful perspectives in which we commonly overlook on a daily basis. I highlighted many key points I feel will be helpful when I need to refer back to this book. Well worth my time.

This book is a powerful book for anyone looking for spiritual enlightenment. If you're not interested in psychologically shifting your life, this book will be confusingly esoteric. It is a book meant to be read a passage at a time with your morning tea to let percolate through your brain the rest of the day. Highly recommend it!!

Never read it. My dad got it for me as a present. As such, it's in brand new condition.
