Lovely imagery, droll, the author helpfully points out the artist-narrators egotism with self-deprecation. The ending's a mite predictable but perhaps we readers are just jaded. A nice read and a lot of name-dropping of famous 1890s New York folks that we should know but are just glad that Ford did the research instead of us.
