I loved the concept (who here wouldn't identify with someone who keeps acquiring books and can't possibly get through all of them?), but I found that I hadn't read or heard of a lot of the books he managed to read and write about in these essays, which made it hard for me to get too engrossed.

This book will interest avid readers who like clever, concise writing with wry, deprecating humor mixed in. Hornby writes about reading, about writing and about what he likes, and I will look for books that he described that will widen my horizons.

Outstanding compilation of Hornby's columns for The Believer magazine. Lots of his trademark British wit that was in books like High Fidelity and About a Boy. A great book for people who buy more books than they can possibly read... (no one like that here!)

I think everyone on paperback swap can relate! A fun year of books bought ,books piled up, and books begging to be read, and an interesting study in how one book leads to another. All told in delicious Hornby style.
Really great, short essays on books and reading. Introduced me to a number of new books that I now want to read....
