This is a collection of 11 short mysteries with Hercule Poirot as the master sleuth. It is amazing how well Agatha Christie could tell a story in so few pages.

THE ADVENTURE OF THE WESTERN STAR --
Poirot discovers the thief of the Western Star diamond very quickly. Unfortunately, Captain Hasting's feelings are trounced in the process.

THE TRAGEDY AT MARSDON MANOR --
Poirot investigates (for an insurance company) the death of a man, soon after he buys that insurance policy.

THE ADVENTURE OF THE CHEAP FLAT --This plot is so convoluted that it is outrageous. It is totally unrealistic.

THE MYSTERY OF HUNTER'S LODGE --
A wealthy uncle is killed in his nephew's house but Poirot sees through the smoke and mirrors.

THE MILLION-DOLLAR BOND ROBBERY --
I've read this one before but the plot is so clever that I had to read it again. A young man transports bonds from England to NYC, but they are stolen and being sold within 30 minutes of the ship landing. Well-told story.

THE ADVENTURE OF THE EGYPTIAN TOMB --
This story is about the curse associated with an Egyptian tomb; three of the excavators die within one month of the tomb being opened, and Lady Willard (wife of one of the dead men) wants to know the truth. This is another very cleverly plotted story from Agatha Christie.

THE JEWEL ROBBERY AT THE GRAND METROPOLITAN --
Another cleverly plotted mystery for Hastings and Poirot to uncover. A wealthy stockbroker and his wife are the victims of a jewelry robbery at their hotel.

THE KIDNAPPED PRIME MINISTER --
This is an example of the mental gymnastics Agatha Christie sometimes liked to exercise on paper. The British prime minister is missing and he must appear soon -- so they call in Poirot.

THE DISAPPEARANCE OF MR. DAVENHEIM --
The bank president, Mr. Davenheim, has disappeared and it has sent tremors throughout the banking industry. Poirot is called in to find him before something desperate happens. When his bank fails, things move into high gear.

THE ADVENTURE OF THE ITALIAN NOBLEMAN --
An Italian Count and two visitors are found dead in a hotel room. Only Poirot can figure out what happened.

THE CASE OF THE MISSING WILL --
An Australian uncle decides to try to outwit his niece (who disappointed him by going to college instead of learning womanly arts at home) with a strange will. It gives her one year to discover his wealth or it is turned over to charity. The niece is smart enough to call on Poirot to find her uncles' wealth, instead of searching.
