Points Unknown is a collection of 41 excerpts of the best adventure writing of the 20th century, says editor David Roberts. And he's right! I loved this book. Let's face it: I am NOT shelling out $70,000 to possibly [make that probably] die on Mount Everest. I am NOT jumping in a canoe, paddling down the Amazon while dodging poison darts. It's not happening. But I am a serious armchair adventurer, and this book was very satisfying. I got to scale mountains, dive in caves, cross deserts, trek into jungles and meet brave souls...all while sitting on my couch in my jammies!

These are excerpts, and so now I have an entire list of books to put on my wishlist!
