To be honest, I didn't know what to expect when I dove into POE. This was my first time reading anything by Brett Battles and Robert Gregory Browne and boy, was I in for a ride. I also have to admit that I usually don't read these types of books. I mainly stick to paranormal. But this one caught my eye. Blame the cover.
After the death of her mother, Alex's father suddenly disappeared. One day he was there, the next he was gone. She was left to wonder what had happened. There were rumors about why he had left but she refused to believe them. After reading the epilogue I'm wondering myself. I have my doubts. Its been ten years and finally Alex is given the chance to learn what happened to him. And, of course, she grabbed at that opportunity and the journey took her for a ride. A tough one.
Alexandra Poe was a fabulous kick-butt protagonist. Just the type of protagonist I like to read about. Deuce (Alex's bounty hunter partner) and Cooper (Alex's former army compatriot) where great. I loved how loyal they where to Alex. I'm looking forward to learning more about them. POE was fast-paced and full of action. At times it had me on the edge of my seat. I cannot wait to read what's next!
