FOUR HUNDRED PAGES LONG!
I read exactly half. If you want to read a book that switches back and forth, in the most agonizing way, between the hero & heroine's internal dialog...which is long and boring, for the most part. About halfway, we get some sex...and things pick up a little in the story, but I just couldn't convince myself to keep reading. Seriously, this book is drones on and on with 90% being internal repetative observations.

Found it really hard to get into. Middle age main characters don't really do it for me either. Maybe if the story was more about the sons than the parents it would have held my interest longer. I made it to page 33 before putting it back up as available.
This book surprised me in that it is about an 'older' couple and their reconciliation (for lack of a better word). Haley King (Hannah) is separated from her bounty hunter husband, Greg, and two grown sons Marc and Jake because she investigated and testified against a drug lord then entered the Witness Protection Program. She returns to her husband in L.A. six years later, in trouble because her boss has disappeared. The story takes the family to Tijuana on the trail of an assassin.
I kept getting the feeling that this story needed something more. I found it hard to believe that a woman who was married for 17 years to an alpha male would disappear w/o a word to her family for six years. I also find it hard to believe that a woman in her mid 40's and a man pushing 50 are supposed to have the bodies or the sexual stamina that the author describes. The story was good as a whole but some parts were vague and others unbelievable. I will read the next two books in this series because I already have them, but I doubt that I will look for more from this author.

As much as I've liked other books by this author this one was absolutely horrible. I can't remember when I've disliked BOTH hero and heroine as much, I really can't decide who was worse. For supposedly intelligent middle-aged people they acted like they were in high school. And the plot....was so convoluted you needed a score card and you still would have gotten lost. I'm always willing to suspend reality, it is fiction after all, but I like to have things make some sense. And the inner musings of both H/H ad nauseum, ugh. Don't waste your time or credits on this one.
I'm not a big fan of Lorie's work, I seem to give her more bad reviews than good, but personally I really am enjoying this series of hers.
loved it. love with the spouse......
The storyline was interesting. Solid characters.
I like Lorie o'clares' writing. This is the first book in the series.
