Planet Architecture - Box Set Two Author:Will Bruder, Morphosis, Thom Mayne, Eric Owen Moss This three volume set features three of the most exciting and innovative architects working in the U.S. today: Morphosis, Eric Owen Moss, and Will Bruder. "Morphosis: Recent Works" is the fourth in a series of monographs featuring the works of individual architects by PlanetArchitecture.com. Over the past three decades Thom Mayne, principal of ... more »Morphosis, has designed some of the most exciting and innovative buildings to be seen in the U.S. and abroad. His non-traditional exploration of architecture, which transcends materials, forms, and tectonics, embody an architecture rooted in time, place and purpose. Featured are two recently completed buildings: Hypo Alpe-Adria-Center in Klagenfurt, Austria and Diamond Ranch High School in Pomona, U.S. The conceptualization of landscape and building as one is further developed in the Hypo Alpe-Adria-Center, the headquarters for a bank, which through urban patterns attempts to reconnect with the fabric of the city. The conceptualization and design of Diamond Ranch high School similarly draws upon relationships with the larger landscape beyond its own boundaries. The results are marvelous forms that play with and against the sloping site, and framed vistas that connect with the scenery beyond. Also included are five projects in various stages of design and development. Extensive use of computer models, drawings and renderings illustrate the extensive lengths Thom Mayne explores each project. "Eric Owen Moss - Recent Works" is the third in a series of monographs featuring the works of contemporary architects by PlanetArchitecture.com. The buildings and projects included in this e-archive comprise Eric Owen Moss' work in Culver City and Central Los Angeles. Since 1986, Moss has collaborated with Frederick and Laurie Samitaur Smith and their company Samitaur Constructs to revitalize an industrial tract development that the Smiths call "Conjunctive Points." Once the site of abandoned sheds and warehouses, the area is now home to digital, new-media, entertainment, and dot-com companies as well as a dance studio, outdoor musical performances, and the greatest concentration of works by Moss. Now that these efforts have reached critical mass, this Planet Architecture edition examines both Moss' architecture and the Smiths urban objectives for Culver City and Los Angeles. "Will Bruder: Recent Works" is the second in a series of monographs featuring the works of individual architects by PlanetArchitecture.com. Six projects are include on this CD-ROM.
