I did not know this was book six of the Liaden Universe. But if you haven't read the other books, like myself, you won't have too much trouble following the events of Plan B. The book was a slow start but I soon grasped the story idea. I may have missed some subtle points by not having a background to pull from. But I still found it a very entertaining read and could not put it down. I just may go back and reread the series from the beginning.

3. Help! What order do I read the books in?
Agent of Change Sequence with the "original three" -- Agent of Change, Conflict of Honors, Carpe Diem -- followed by Plan B, Local Custom, Scout's Progress, finishing up with I Dare. This is a perfectly valid reading order -- it is, indeed, the order in which the books were written and published.

A Liaden book being written right now, called Ghost Ship, which is a sequel to Saltation, which is a sequel to Fledgling, both of which concerned with Theo Waitley and the "kind of complicated" problem she brings to the Delm of Korval.
In addition, Baen Books (which will be publishing the final drafts of Fledgling and Saltation in dead tree) has contracted for a sequel to Scout's Progress, called Mouse and Dragon, due out next year.

Another marvelous book in the Liaden Universe!

From back cover:
Val Con yos'Phelium is a fugitive. The heir of Clan Korval is wanted by the covert Liaden agency known as the Department of the Interior, whose rulers have declared unofficial war against the entire clan. With only his lover, Miri Robertson, by his side, Val Con plans a desperate gamble by forming an alliance with Clan Erob on the planet where Miri was born.
But Val Con's cousin, Shan yos'Galen, can't wait for help that may never arrive. With enemy agents closing in, he invokes Plan B--setting in motion a series of events that will have dire consequences not only for him and his life-mate Priscilla Mendoza, but for all of Liad . . .
